In early September I will be taking a train from Milan to Switzerland where I will be for 4 days before taking an overnight train to Florence. I was thinking that I could first go to either Zurich or Bern for 2 nights, then spend one day somewhere hiking in the mountains, then spend one day in Lucerne , and take the train to Florence from there. I am looking for advice about whether Zurich or Bern is better to spent time in. I'm not looking to shop or go to museums, just to walk around a beautiful town, looking at things. I like history, and pretty old buildings.
